Four-Stroke and Two-Stroke Motorcycle Oils

10W40 motorcycle oil is the most commonly specified grade across UK four-stroke motorcycles, and it is the grade dealers and workshops reorder most often. Britannia stocks 54 motorcycle oil lines across four-stroke and two-stroke formulations, in 1-litre, 4-litre, 5-litre and 20-litre packs.

Why motorcycle oil is not car oil

A wet-clutch motorcycle shares its oil between the engine, the gearbox and the clutch. Passenger car oils carrying friction modifiers can cause clutch slip in that arrangement, which is why JASO MA and MA2 rated oils exist and why a 10W-40 motorcycle oil is not interchangeable with a 10W-40 car oil.
